Nintendo has added 4 new free games for Nintendo Switch Online members to play. Super Nintendo and Game Boy fans rejoice!

In total, Nintendo added 4 new games to its Nintendo Switch online library of games on September 6, 2023: one Game Boy game, one Game Boy Color, one Super Nintendo, and one Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game.

The four September 2023 Nintendo Switch Online app game additions are Kirby’s Star Stacker (SNES), Quest for Camelot (Game Boy Color), Downtown Nekketsu March: Super-Awesome Field Day! (NES), and Joy Mech Fight (NES).

Three of these games were previously only released in Japan:

• Kirby’s Star Stacker (SNES)
• Downtown Nekketsu March: Super-Awesome Field Day! (NES)
• Joy Mech Fight (NES).

What is Kirby’s Star Stacker?

Kirby’s Star Stacker was a Japan-only Super Nintendo (known as Super Famicom in Japan) puzzle game released in 1998/1999.

This Nintendo Switch Online release of Kirby Star Stacker is the first time this version has been made available outside Japan.

Gameplay wise, Kirby Star Stacker is a column-based puzzle game similar to Tetris. The game revolves around matching and clearing lines in a multitude of modes including Single Player, Two Player Versus (VS), Time Attack, Story, an endless Challenge, and Round Clear.

What is Downtown Nekketsu March: Super-Awesome Field Day!

This Nintendo Switch Online release of Downtown Nekketsu March: Super-Awesome Field Day! is the first time this version has been made available outside Japan.

Gameplay wise, Downtown Nekketsu March: Super-Awesome Field Day! is a sports festival themed action game for 1 to 4 players simultaneously. Whoever accumulates the highest score wins. The game revolves around competing in events that include fighting and running such as obstacle courses and battle royal contests.

What is Joy Mech Fight?

Joy Mech Fight was a Japan-only Nintendo Entertainment System (known as Famicom in Japan) fighting game released in 1993.

This Nintendo Switch Online release of Joy Mech Fight is the first time this version has been made available outside Japan.

Gameplay wise, Joy Mech Fight is a fighting game for up to two players. The goal is to deal damage by performing attacks (normal and special moves) until the opponent’s life bar is reduced down to zero. Each fight lasts two rounds. The title includes 8 playable characters and two game modes: Versus mode for one or two players and a story Quest Mode

What is Quest for Camelot?

Quest For Camelot is a Game Boy Color action role playing game released in 1998 based on a Warner Brothers animated movie of the same name.

This Nintendo Switch Online release of Quest For Camelot is the first time this version has been made available since its original release.

Gameplay wise, Quest For Camelot is an adventure game with item collection and exploration. The aim is to defeat enemies and explore 60 areas with gameplay inspired by The Legend of Zelda series.
