The latest Nintendo Direct may have come and gone, but it was packed with so much great information for Nintendo Switch owners,  soon-to-be owners, and video game fans.

Dozens of stellar games are making their way to Nintendo Switch from now into 2020 including Overwatch, The Witcher 3, Grid Autosport, dozens of Super Nintendo Games, and plenty more.


►Everything You Might Have Missed From the Nintendo Direct 9.4.19

DEBUT: Overwatch is coming to Nintendo Switch. The popular online multiplayer competitive hero shooter is arriving on Nintendo Switch on October 15th, 2019. The game supports gryo motion aiming for precise movements and shots.

►Luigi’s Mansion 3 is launching for Nintendo Switch on October 31st, 2019 just in time for Halloween. The game includes a new “Scream Park” multiplayer party mode for 2-8 players, while the single player game includes hotel floors with their own unique themes.

DEBUT: Super Kirby Clash is available now. It is a free-to-start action oriented Kirby game with role playing elements for 1-4 players locally or online that includes over 100 quests.

►Trials of Mana HD remake is launching for Nintendo Switch on April 24th, 2020. It is a 3D remake of the 3rd action-role playing Mana game released 25 years ago from premier Japanese role playing game developers Square Enix. Includes 6 playable characters.

DEBUT: Return of the Obra Dinn releases Fall 2019 for Nintendo Switch. It is a mystery game about figuring out what killed a ship’s crew. The game has interesting, black and white visuals and a unique premise involving time traveling.

►Little Town Hero launches on Nintendo Switch October 16th, 2019. Made by Pokemon developers Game Freak with a soundtrack composed by Undertale’s Toby Fox, Little Town Hero is a cute role playing game based within a single town where players must battle monsters with the help of villagers.

►Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was updated. The downloadable character Banjo Kazooie is now available and comes with a stage and 10 songs (which includes 7 remixes). Terry Bogard from the iconic Fatal Fury and King of Fighters SNK fighting game series was announced as the next fighter. Terry Bogard will be available November 2019.

►Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was also announced to be getting a second round of downloadable characters after the first set of fighters are finished. Exciting news for Smash Bros. fans.

►The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will be launching on the Nintendo Switch September 20th, 2019. The game is a full remake of the Game Boy classic and includes a dungeon builder mode where players can build dungeons and share them with friends online. A new Link amiibo based on the game’s Link design will be launching the same day as the game.

Dragon Quest 11 S launches for Nintendo Switch on September 27th, 2019. The game can be played in HD graphics mode or a Nintendo Switch exclusive 2D pixel mode that emulates Dragon Quest games from the 16 bit era. Free downloadable content is available at launch.

DEBUT: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is coming to Nintendo Switch on Jan 17, 2020. It is an updated port of the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei crossover about a talent agency of singers who have to battle creatures from another world. Includes a new song not in the original Nintendo Wii U release.

DEBUT: Deadly Premonition Origins is out now. A Nintendo Switch port of an “open world mystery” game with mature themes and survival horror vibes. Available on the Nintendo Switch eShop now.

DEBUT: Deadly Premonitions 2. A launch-exclusive Nintendo Switch sequel to Deadly Premonitions Origins that launches in 2020.

DEBUT: Divinity Original Sins 2 Definitive Edition is available now on the Nintendo Switch eShop. It is a highly acclaimed tactical role playing game for up to 4 people online. Players can link their PC Steam account to access their cloud saves to play on their Nintendo Switch and vice versa.

DEBUT: Doom 64 is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 22nd, 2019. The classic Doom game that released on Nintendo 64 is getting rel-released and touched up for the Nintendo Switch.

DEBUT: Rouge Company is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. Made by the developers of the online game Paladins: Champions of the Realm comes Rouge Company–an online multiplayer, player-versus-player third person action game with realistic visuals about mercenaries fighting each other in ranged and melee combat.

Pokemon Sword and Shield launches for Nintendo Switch on November 15th, 2019. The game will include improved character customization, curry rice cooking, and a new feature called Pokemon Camp to interact with Pokemon. The ghost tea Pokemon Polteageist was announced along with the blue bird, Cramorant.

DEBUT: Super Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online games’ app is available now for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. 20 SNES games are available to play for free to subscribers including Super Mario Kart and Super Metroid. A Super Nintendo Bluetooth Nintendo Switch controller is also available to subscribers to purchase online.

Tetris 99 was updated and available now. Tetris 99 has been updated with daily missions, in-game tickets that can be traded in for gameplay themes, player icons have been added, and a second set of paid content has been created that allows multiplayer sessions among other things.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Tokyo Games 2020 launches for Nintendo Switch on November 5th, 2020. Includes a story mode and retro events that use Sonic and Mario’s classic visuals.

Daemon X Machnia launches for Nintendo Switch on September 13th, 2019. The action mech game also has a new demo, which is available now, that allows progress from the demo to carry over into the full game. This game will include online co-operative play for up to 4 players.

DEBUT: Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 24th, 2020. This is a surprise release of a third person action game set in the Star Wars universe originally released in 2002.

The Witcher 3 launches on Nintendo Switch October 15th, 2019. This is a critically acclaimed, mature rated, and story-driven fantasy game that includes all previously released downloadable content.

Dauntless launches on Nintendo Switch in 2019. Dauntless is an online action game about hunting large monsters with friends.

Just Dance 2020 launches for Nintendo Switch on November 11th, 2019. Just Dance 2020 is a dancing party game updated with new songs and modes.

GRID Autosport launches for Nintendo Switch on September 19th, 2019.  This is a popular simulation racing game with realistic visuals and a port of a 2014 game.

Farming Simulator 20 launches for Nintendo Switch on December 3rd 2019. This is a realistic farming simulation game.

Ni Ni Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch launches for Nintendo Switch on September 20th, 2019. This is an updated port of a anime inspired role playing game with great characters and story.

NBA 2K20 launches for Nintendo Switch on September 6th, 2019. This is the latest installment in the annual basketball franchise with an updated roster and more.

The Nintendo Switch Lite launches September 20th, 2019. Nintendo’s handheld-only, smaller, lighter, more portable Nintendo Switch will be available in multiple colors.

Call of Cthulhu launches for Nintendo Switch on October 8th, 2019. This is a survival horror adventure game inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s short story.

The Outer Worlds is coming soon. A first person, role playing shooter game with visuals similar to the Borderlands series set in an alternate future with aliens.

DEBUT: Devil May Cry 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch on September 19th, 2020. The HD remaster of a PlayStation 2 action game developed by Capcom about battling devils and monsters.

Vampyr is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 29th, 2019. It is a horror themed action role playing game about becoming a vampire.

Animal Crossing: New Horizon launches for Nintendo Switch on March 20th, 2020. A short video was shown recapping all the new additions to this game such as crafting, 8 player online play, 4 player local play, taking photos, vaulting over lakes, wind blowing tree leaves, eating food to grant stat boosting, and more.

DEBUT: Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020. The classic Wii role playing game–and one of the best games made in the past decade–is being remastered in HD for Nintendo Switch. Developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo, this game will include extra content, redone visuals, and more. This is an epic tale of a boy and his friends that turns into something so huge you need to play it for yourself to believe it.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was updated to 5.0, available now.

  • The classic Home Run Contest game mode has been added for FREE. Hit a sandbag with your favorite character to launch the sandbag as far as you can for a high score.
  • New Mii FIghter costumes have been added including Proto Man and Zero from the Mega Man series, Team Rocket from the Pokemon series, Goeman from the Mystical Ninja series, and Sans which includes a remixed music track from Undertale.
  • Banjo Kazooie is available thanks to partnership with Microsoft who owns Banjo Kazooie.
  • New amiibo were shown including Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Solid Snake.
  • Terry Bogard footage was shown and more downloadable characters are in development past the original set of 5.
