Trine 4 is the fourth installment of a 2.5 dimensional side scrolling multiplayer game about wizards and knights adventuring in a fairytale world.
Why should you care about Trine 4?
Cooperative games are not dead, and Trine 4 wants you to know about it.
The Trine series has always focused around stellar multiplayer gameplay, and Trine 4 looks to continue this legacy.
This game allows up to 4 players to play locally or via online play. This is perfect whether you have friends nearby or across the globe.
Just because the game has multiplayer play doesn’t mean it’s not fun for single players. You can play the entire game by yourself; additionally, the game focuses on telling a gripping tale of a haunted prince in a fairytale world.
The bulk of the game will have you traveling beautiful landscapes while fighting enemies and solving puzzles, the latter of which this game series is known for.
If you are looking for a grand adventure of wizards, knights, thieves, and a prince, then Trine 4 will be right for you.
I played the first two Trine games on my computer and I had a blast, and I am looking forward to having a blast with friends and family once more.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a colorful single player 2D platforming game about solving puzzles, jumping on platforms, finding collectibles, and finishing levels.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a love letter to Super Mario fans.
This is a challenging platform game for fans of run-and-jump gameplay.
You will be jumping on platforms to get through the numerous 2D levels, running primarily from left to right to finish each stage. And expect many obstacles and baddies along the way during this fun journey.
If you like colorful adventure titles such as the Spyro, Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Country, and Crash Bandicoot series, you will more than likely enjoy your time is Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.
The game is made up of a hub world which new levels are unlocked by completing objectives and solving puzzles. New levels are set in a variety of environments including forests and villages and each come to life with beautiful visuals.

Spirit Hunter: NG is a horror-based visual novel with anime artwork about finding clues about your sister’s disappearance.

October gives us horror fans an excuse to celebrate spooky games all month long. And what better way to do that than with Spirit Hunter: NG, a supernatural tale.
This game plays out as a visual novel, where the bulk of the gameplay comes from reading dialogue, interacting with characters, visiting different environments, finding clues, and making decisions all within a slide-esque presentation perspective.
Yup. Prepare to read your way to spooky-ville in this game.
Luckily, the anime-inspired artwork is well drawn and grotesque: one scene you will come across shows a man with his eyes bulging, lying in his own blood.
This game is definitely for mature audiences only and will satisfy those looking for a horror game throughout the month of October.
The premise centers around searching for clues to find your missing sister while spirits roam the streets, the parks, and even your very own home. Shivers!
I love horror games so this sounds great to me. And perhaps Spirit Hunter: NG will sound great to you, too.

Killer Queen Black is a sci-fi team-based, arcade platforming game about killing the opponent’s queen.
Why should you care about Killer Queen Black?
Killer Queen Black is a popular arcade game that is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch.
It is a class-based multiplayer game where two teams go head-to-head with three different ways to win: eliminate the opponent’s queen, hop on a snail, or by hoarding berries.
Sounds crazy, but this looks like another fun competitive online game for the Nintendo Switch that revolves around mechanical-like bee warrior combat and blaring rock music.
The 16-bit visuals are reminiscent of arcade games of yesteryear as well as console games from the 1990’s. It’s a good thing, then, that the pixel presentation makes following the action a breeze.
Additionally, the game’s single screen experience also makes action easy to follow.
The game world and background–like many arcade games that came before it such as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Mario Bros–remains in place as you fly around the stage combating opponents.
Gameplay is tight and fierce yet simple, but it also includes strategy and skill to come up on top.
But what comes included in this package?
The game includes three different classes that are each unique to play, multiple weapons, 6 stages to battle on, a tutorial mode, challenging computer opponents to fight and practice with, a spectator mode, detailed stat tracking, unranked online play, ranked online play, custom match online play, as well as crossplay with PC and Xbox players.
Did i mention this game also supports up to 4 players on a single Nintendo Switch or up to 8 players by connecting 2 Nintendo Switch’s? I just said wow!

The realistic visuals and voiced characters make the large open world come alive. You’ll probably stop and enjoy the scenery from time to time as you should in large open games like this.
Speaking of large open worlds, this game has a large world that will make fans of Breath of the Wild feel at home.
Players will travel across bodies of water, fields, forests, and towns by foot, ship, and horseback from one quest or story event to another.
I want to play this game so much, and it make me feel overwhelmed in a good way to say that The Witcher 3 has over 150 hours of total content. That’s insane!

New quests, items, and story components previously released as extra content come standard in the Nintendo Switch release.
If you are looking for an action role playing game that takes you on a very long adventure with tons of content and side quests to accomplish (along with a gripping narrative), The Witcher 3 says hello.
I cannot wait for this game to launch in October, as it will be the perfect meaty game to play throughout the entire month.

Overwatch is a popular team-based, online, competitive, multiplayer shooter about controlling characters with superhero abilities against opposing teams.
Why should you care about Overwatch?
Overwatch, the popular online team-based shooter, finally comes to the Nintendo Switch this month.
If you are like me and are a fan of Paladins: Champions of the Realm on the Nintendo Switch, you already know what Overwatch is all about.
The game centers around a colorful cast of characters each with his or her own unique abilities.
Gameplay revolves around joining a team and fighting opponents online from a first person perspective.
The winning team must complete an objective of some sort which is dependent on the game mode selected.
The characters are essentially super heroes and have cool abilities. Some heal, some turn invisible, while others boost their own strengths to give them an advantage in a match.
I am a huge fan of Paladins, which is another team based online shooter available on the Nintendo Switch, and I am highly looking forward to finally playing this.
Fun fact: a friend of mine used to talk to me about Overwatch for an entire year, praising the game’s Pixar-esque visual polish, addicting gameplay, abundant cosmetic additions, and ever growing roster of characters.
But because Overwatch was not on a Nintendo device at the time, I ended up playing the equally great Paladins instead.
Now, all of us Nintendo Switch owners will finally have a chance to play the world-wild phenomenon known as Overwatch this month.
If you are looking for a highly polished online multiplayer shooter from the makers of World of Warcraft and the Diablo series of games, this is the title for you.

Little Town Hero is a role playing game (with anime inspired visuals) set in a single town from the developers of the Pokemon games that includes a unique battle system.
Why should you care about Little Town Hero?
If you are a fan of the Pokemon games, you might want to pick this up. Why?
Because, the Pokemon developers (Game Freak) are making this brand new game unrelated to Pokemon, and it is called Little Town Hero.
It is a role playing game with bright, colorful visuals set in a a single town. Yup. The entire game takes place in one isolated place.
The goal is to defend the town from approaching monsters in a most unique way.
You will have to use your thoughts to battle monsters and maneuver throughout the town during battle to get a helping hand from townsfolk. Each battle is challenging and can be won with thought, care, and planning.
The game was created with modern gamers in mind which means mindless grinding (playing a part over and over again just to get stronger) has been mitigated, while strategic battles have been spotlighted.
The story is fun and centers around a town protected by a castle that one day falls prey to monsters, creatures the townsfolk never knew existed.
Luckily, one brave boy stands in the monster’s way: the main character with a hair that resembles red flames.
And finally, the game’s soundtrack is done by Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale.
Yes. If you enjoyed Undertale’s soundtrack, you are in for a treat.
I love when Game Freak does something other than the Pokemon games, a rare occasion in deed. And Little Town Hero looks to be a fun, role playing game from them that release real soon.

►Ring Fit Adventure | Rated E10+ | Oct 18th
Ring Fit Adventure is a exercise, role playing adventure game made by Nintendo and a spiritual successor of the Wii Fit series.
Why should you care about Ring Fit Adventure?
Look no further for the spiritual successor to Wii Fit. Evolved. HD. And with an entire adventure attached.
Oh. And a new workout instrument to use, too.
Ring Fit Adventure uses the included Ring-Con and Leg Strap accessories to track your movements while playing the game. So, whatever you do in the real world will be measured while playing.
A pair of Joy-Con is needed to play, but every original Nintendo Switch comes with a pair (Nintendo Lite owners may find playing this game a bit more difficult).
One Joy-Con slots into the Ring-Con while the other slots into the Leg Strap. The Leg Strap is attached to your leg while the Ring -Con (a sturdy round workout band of sorts) is used to perform different moves, stretches, lifts, and exercises during gameplay.
But, what is Ring Fit Adventure all about? It is a workout game set in a fantasy, role playing adventure world.
Moving throughout the colorful, detailed game world is done by walking or jogging in place. To get to some far off distance, be prepared to actually walk to get there (this is a workout game, after all).
Luckily, the game allows you to move at a pace that is comfortable to you so running is not required if you prefer to walk.
Jumping and performing blasts of air requires pressing in on the Ring-Con. Point the device at the ground, press in, and your character will jump when needed.
What’s that?!? A monster approaches! Yes, you will battle monsters throughout this game by using the Ring-Con to perform 40 different offensive maneuvers.
Each move belongs to one of 4 categories of attacks and each category focuses on strengthening a certain body part. You will get a workout by playing this game, that is for sure.
According to Nintendo, the game will take months to complete by playing 30 minutes a day. That’s a lot of gaming goodness!
But if you rather focus solely on working-out in a digital format while skipping the adventure mode, you can do that, too.
The game also includes multiple other game modes to help you complete a full body workout including a more traditional Sets workout mode, Quick Play, and Minigames.
Don’t like the workouts pre-made for you? You can also customize your workouts to your liking.
Oh. And Ring Fit Adventure also allows you to compare your high scores with online ranking boards.
I love workout games and this one looks to strike a nice balance between fun while providing actual workout results. I cannot wait for this game to be released.
If you are looking for an entertaining way to sweat, Ring Fit Adventure is the October game for you.

Mary Skelter 2 is a dungeon-crawling role playing game with anime visuals for mature players about controlling fairytale themed characters called “Blood Maidens”.
Why should you care about Mary Skelter 2?
Mary Skelter 2 is too nightmarish not to include in this October guide.
Just check out the strange monster in the picture above? Grotesque, and spooky, right?
This game is all about nightmares and Blood Maidens with the gameplay of dungeon crawling role playing games such as the Nintendo DS’s Etrian Odyssey series
Gameplay centers around interacting with characters, reading tons of text while some lines are voiced, traversing through dungeons from a first person perspective, and battling strange monsters from a first person perspective.
Of course, you can power up and equip your Battle Maidens as well as change their jobs so they can perform in battle just the way you want them to. Party members also learn skills and increase in stats as game progression is made.
The battle system contains depth with monsters having weaknesses, the visuals are high quality and anime inspired, and the music fits each environment to create a well polished game.
I always enjoy a quirky Japanese role playing game form time to time, and this semi-horror themed game called Mary Skelter 2 fits the bill.
I am definitely keeping tabs on this gem. If you are a fan of role playing games or mature anime-inspired adventures, you should keep a tab on this game, too.

►Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD | Rated E10+ | Oct 29th
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is an action, arcade game about rolling around stages as a monkey inside a ball.
Why should you care about Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD?
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is a remake of a Wii game with updated high definition visuals.
The gameplay is fun and addicting. It centers around picking a monkey trapped inside of a ball and then rolling said monkey throughout a stage to get to the goal in as short of time as possible.
The trick? You do not control the monkey, you control the stage.
Yup.
Tilting the analog stick tilts the stage and propels the monkey in the direction the stage has been tilted to.
Sounds confusing, but it really is not after you wrap your head around it. Maneuvering through stages that ramp up in difficulty as the game progresses is tons of fun.
Each stage is like a puzzle that has to be completed but with colorful graphics, cherry tunes, and banana’s lying around everywhere.
But what if you wanted to do something other than completing the over 100 plus stages? Well, every Super Monkey Ball game comes packaged with extra content and this game is no exception.
Play 10 Party Games for up to 4 players for multiplayer fun, or try your hand at Time Attack mode for an extra challenge.
Whatever you pick, this is a great family friendly game in a long running franchise that is highly adored by gamers.
I started playing the Super Monkey Ball series when it debuted on the Nintendo GameCube.
And although I owned and played Banana Blitz on Wii, I am still really looking forward to revisiting this entry on the Nintendo Switch later this month.

Resident Evil 5 and 6 are action oriented horror games in the long running Resident Evil franchise about fighting the undead as tough, iconic characters.
Why should you care about Resident Evil 5 and 6?
Resident Evil 5 and 6 are THE games you are looking for if you want to celebrate horror games in October.
These two games are fantastic single player, action oriented survival horror games with tons of content.
I played through Resident Evil 5 many times across various platforms and I have also played through a bit of Resident Evil 6.
Each game revolves around one or more playable characters encountering infected enemies that include zombies and deadly zombie-like foes.
The action oriented Resident Evil titles of 5 and 6 rely less on horror and suspense and more on combat than previous entries in the series.
Gameplay revolves around rationing health packs, ammo, and items in order to get from one location to another as enemies pour out from all different locations. If you are looking for a fun, thrilling adventure game with supernatural and horror themes, you came to the right place.
Also, both games include cooperative play which means us players will be able to fend off the hoard of undead with a friend or more. Each game also comes with a ton of extra content which includes previously released downloadable content, modes, and costumes.
Resident Evil is one of my favorite franchises of all time, and I am glad to finally see these two titles make their way to a Nintendo system.
I will definitely be picking up the two classics as soon as possible. If you can only get one, I would highly suggest getting Resident Evil 5 first.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an adventure game about exploring a haunted hotel to save Luigi’s brother Mario and his friends.
Why should you care about Luigi’s Mansion 3?
Lastly, we come to the heaviest hitter of the month and a game with a comical sense of horror, Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Finally! We have another full featured, home console Luigi’s Mansion game.
This series plops Mario’s green-clad timid younger brother into a haunted location and forces him to adventure through the game world fighting ghosts and collecting items in order to search for his missing brother and friends.
Specifically, Luigi’s Mansion 3 takes place in a haunted hotel with many floors, each distinct and with its own characteristics.
Imagine each floor as its own unique world when compared to other Mario games: one floor may be Egyptian desert themed while another looks like a disco club.
Traversing the haunted mansion will never get boring as new puzzles, visual themes, and enemies await the players every move.
I, for one, am super excited for this game.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing the first iteration on the Nintendo GameCube years ago when it launched. I still have fond memories playing that game alongside my brothers, knocking on walls, quivery through halls, and sucking up ghosts.
Thankfully, this game also includes a couple of multiplayer modes for up to 8 players for those with family and friends.
With that said, I cannot wait to jump into this third game to cap off a monumental month of games and celebrate the spookiest month that is October in style.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a huge Nintendo Switch title that is just waiting to be played by those who want something horror themed but is much more comical and family friendly in tone.

Downloading Nintendo Switch games requires serious storage space.

I originally started with a 128GB microSD card. This little thing lasted me for a solid year or so and I can’t say enough good things about it.

The 400GB microSD card is more than enough room and I have over 150 games downloaded to my Nintendo Switch at once with nearly 200GB free (you mileage may vary but you will be able to store a lot of games).
