Wally here, and I cannot (for the life of me) beat a particular Spirit Board Battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch.

Let’s talk about it in today’s quick Wally’s Game Experience TendoSource blog post.

What Spirit Board Battle Is Too Hard For Me To Beat

The Liquid Metal Slime Dragon Quest downloadable content Spirit Board battle has proved too difficult for me to complete.

A metal Kirby is the opponent that represents the Liquid Metal Slime from the Dragon Quest series with a specific rule-set.

Liquid Metal Slime Battle Rules

  • The enemy has super armor and is hard to launch or make flinch
  • The enemy starts the battle with a Franklin Badge
  • Timed stamina battle

Additionally, Kirby gains increased movement speed and defense while I (the sad player trying to beat this guy) receives a decrease in attack power.

The battle seems easy due to the thirty second time limit and Kirby only having 8 health points, but it is pretty stinking difficult!

Why The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Liquid Metal Slime Battle Is So Difficult

The reason the Liquid Metal Slime Battle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is so difficult is due to the combined affects of the active rules.

Kirby is hard to kill, even though he only has 8 health points. The super armor makes him hard to launch or flinch while the Franklin Badge causes all projectiles to bounce off.

So don’t expect to use ranged attacks which are some of my favorite attacks in the game.

On top of that, Kirby’s increased speed makes it near impossible to get close enough to hit him. He bounces around the stage without a care in the world, me trailing behind as the thirty second clock counts down.

Catching up to him doesn’t seem to matter, either. In the lucky moment one does catch up and smashes Kirby, his increased defense mitigates damage from even the mightiest of blows.

This is one harsh fight!

My Liquid Metal Slime Spirit Battle Results

I fought the Liquid Metal Slime Spirit Board battle countless times for about 15 minutes straight. I never beat it and basically felt like I was chasing after a crazy chicken or over-active puppy that proved too energetic for its master.

My fighter of choice was Mythra/Pyra with me remaining in Pyra form.

I also equipped Spirits that increased my movement and allowed my attacks to do extra damage against metal characters.

The added strength of Pyra’s attacks felt nice while Mythra’s extra speed never seemed to help (I still couldn’t keep up with the metal puff ball Kirby as the speedster Mythra).

On occasion, I did make it close enough to hit Kirby with a smack of my sword.

I even whittled his health points down to 1.7 that one time. Hey, ya’ got to be proud of even the smallest progression.

For now, I am a retired Liquid Metal Slime battler. I got close but I am not giving up for good.

This metal Kirby and I have a date with destiny.

But that date will have to wait as I continue to collect Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirits that aren’t as difficult *thumbs up*
