I have heard fantastic things about Balatro and this update simply adds more appeal to an already fun virtual card game.

2) Neva

Neva is a visually stunning 2D adventure about a woman and a wolf cub’s journey through an emotional-filled decaying world. Gameplay includes exploration, light puzzle solving, and enemy encounters.
This game is developed by the same developers who made Gris and is similar in look and feel.
Gris is one of my favorite Nintendo Switch games and Neva looks like a beautiful and well polished follow-up by the same studio.
I am really looking forward to this.

3) Moth Kubit

Moth Kubit is a role playing game about an insect who got a work promotion. Players explore a corporation building, befriend bugs, and fight enemies.
This looks like a highly bizarre odd game with a silly premise . . . and I adore it.
Gameplay looks varied, challenging, and much fun to play.

5) Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker

Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker is free extra content for the role playing game Sea of Stars. The update adds carnival-themed features to the gameplay experience, including a new playable character and new areas to explore.
This game is similar to role playing games of the 1990s but modernized.
Fans of Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger (Super Nintendo; 1995) may enjoy this game.
Sea of Stars new update looks great and I personally enjoy the carnival/circus theme.

6) PowerWash Simulator – Shrek Special Pack

PowerWash Simulator – Shrek Special Pack is extra content for the game PowerWash Simulator in which players clean dirt from objects by using a power washer. This new content adds themes, colors, and locations based on the Shrek movie series.
I have never played PowerWash Simulator, but this update makes me want to try it.
The game looks super relaxing.
Plus, I love fantasy settings and the Shrek movies are fun to watch.
This oddball collaboration has my attention.

Morsels is a challenging action game set in a whimsical world full of odd creatures. Players fight enemies, obtains power up, and explore underground dungeons with randomized elements.

Date Everything! is a dating game set in a 3D home in which players can date over 100 objects found within a house. Cabinets, shelves, and even emotional dread can be dated with gameplay focusing on making choices through text selection.
I laughed so hard watching this trailer.
The game allows you to literally date anything!
I love that premise of being able to romance inanimate objects that each have their own personalities.
Looks like a fun, quirky, and chill game to me.

9) Peglin

Peglin is a a role playing puzzle game inspired by Pachinko, the mechanical slot machine played in Japan. Gameplay focuses on fighting dragons bent on stealing your gold by bouncing balls around a stage to deal damage. The game also includes role playing elements such as health, healing, and relic power ups.
This games is similar to real-life pachinko slot machines but with a role playing twist.

11) Pico Park 2

Pico Park 2 is a 2D cooperative puzzle game about exploring with up to 8 others. Players must work together to navigate levels filled with items and obstacles. Gameplay consists of finding keys and stacking characters to progress through over 60 levels.
Pico Park 2 was one of my favorite announcements from the Indie World Direct, because I like playing cooperative puzzle games with friends and family.
This game also reminded me Nintendo’s Box Boy series, which I enjoy very much.

I really like Europa’s colorful, fantasy-themed setting.
Swimming with whales, skating on water surfaces, and soaring through clear skies is what I love about games doing game things that can only be done in games.
Europa is definitely an experience to consider for exploration and puzzle solving fans.

14) Cuisineer

Cuisineer is a 2D action and simulation game about exploring dungeons, fighting enemies, and gaming resources in order to craft your own restaurant. Serve customers dishes by crafting over 100 recipes and enhance the eatery by customizing the shop’s interior.
This game is similar to two gaming genres: restaurant management and dungeon action.
Fans of classic restaurant simulators such as Diner Dash and Cake Mania may want to try this game.
Furthermore, Cuisineer is an awesome title for a game and has a unique premise I have not really seen in my many years of gaming.
I grew up playing dungeon adventures and grew to love dining management simulation games on the Nintendo DS.
To see the two game genres come together with colorful visuals is a tasty delight.
I want to play Cuisineer so I can slay monsters and serve customers yummy food.

16) Metal Slug Tactics

Metal Slug Tactics is a tactical strategy game set in the classic Metal Slug universe. Gameplay is comparable to chess or checkers in which players move military-themed troops across levels to defeat opposing forces. Utilize strategic thinking and positioning to compete each stage in order to progress.
This game is similar in gameplay to other tactical strategy games such as the Fire Emblem series, Advance Wars series, Disgaea series, and Final Fantasy Tactics.
I have always loved Metal Slug’s art style ever since I saw the original game being played on a multi game arcade cabinet when I was younger.
Metal Slug Tactics faithfully combines the series’ classic visuals and animations with strategic gameplay inherit in the tactical game genre I find quite enjoyable.
This game is one of my most anticipated games of 2024, for sure.

This game has similar action gameplay features to games such as Cat Quest, Cult of the Lamb, and The Legend of Zelda series.
Dodging enemy attacks, rolling to safety, and attacking with sword swipes looks fast, furious, and fun to control.

18) Pizza Tower

Pizza Tower is a wacky, fast-paced 2D action game about a pizzeria owner’s quest to destroy a giant Pizza Tower in order to save his own restaurant. Gameplay consists of quick movement and combat. Navigate levels with blazing speed, destroying enemies along the way, to progress.
This game has a quirky visual identity similar to 1990’s Nickelodeon cartoons Ren & Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life with speedy gameplay similar to Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Pizza Tower is a surprise release that became available to purchase immediately after the Nintendo Direct.
To me, the game looks like a nonsensical joy of craziness and challenging gameplay that reminds me of 1990’s styles and attitude.
This gets my seal of approval and curiosity.

Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase – All Games Announcements You Should Know
19) Tetris Forever

Tetris Forever is a 40th anniversary Tetris collection that includes over 15 Tetris games released over the series’ lifespan dating back to 1984. Many of these games have never released outside of Japan. This collection also includes a new mode that randomly changes Tetris themes and mechanics to different Tetris eras mid-game.
Additionally, the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Tetris (originally released in 1989) is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online – Nintendo Entertainment System app for Nintendo Switch Online members Winter 2024.
A Tetris 99 collaboration event to celebrate Tetris Forever will occur in Winter 2024 as well.
My mom playing the Nintendo version of Tetris is the first gaming memory I have, and I have been a Tetris and gaming fan ever since.
I am looking forward to replaying the first game I ever remember when Tetris gets added to Nintendo Switch Online.
And I am also eagerly waiting to play many Tetris games I have never experienced with Tetris Forever.

My Nintendo Direct Recommendations
So much gaming goodness was shown in this Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase and Indie World double presentation, my head is still spinning.
But that will not stop me from spotlighting my favorite game recommendations from these Nintendo Direct video presentations.
Single Player Game Recommendations
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and Star Overdrive were my two favorite single player Nintendo Switch games from the Nintendo Direct presentations.
Rune Factory may appeal to fans of social and farming simulators as well as fans of action role playing games.
Past games in the series have provided dozens of hours of content and replay value, so I expect the same with this one.
Star Overdrive also looks like tons of fun with its unique hoverboard-focused game design: the board is used not only to traverse the planet but to fight foes.
Seems like a good time to me.
Multiplayer Game Recommendations
Pico Park 2 and Civilization 7 were my two standout Nintendo Switch multiplayer games from the Nintendo Direct showcases.
Pico Park 2 is a simple, family-friendly puzzle game for up to 8 players which is great for party nights.
Meanwhile, Civilization 7 is one of those multiplayer experiences that could happily eat up an entire weekend with friends.
Relaxing Game Recommendations
MySims Cozy Bundle and Date Everything! were my Nintendo Switch picks if you are looking for a relaxing game to play.
The MySims Cozy Bundle includes two chill games to play (with gameplay similar to Animal Crossing) which is pure value.
At the same time, Date Everything! looks to be a laid-back, wacky dating simulator that does not take itself too seriously.
I think both exude chill vibes while being go-at-your own pace.
Great pickups for two separate types of relaxed gaming fans.
Fitness Game Recommendations
Fitness Boxing 3 and Just Dance 2025 Edition were my two selections for Nintendo Switch fitness games. Wait a minute. I think they were the only two fitness games shown, but they both looked great.
I have burned many calories with both the Fitness Boxing and Just Dance series and both are enjoyable: Fitness Boxing is a pure cardio workout while Just Dance is a workout hiding behind music and dancing.
The two latest games in each series look to continue the trend of being a solid way to sweat and burn calories.
Classic Game Recommendations
I loved all of the classic game collections shown in the Nintendo Direct but some caught my eye more than others.
Capcom’s two fighting game collections are must-buys for those looking for classic fighting games while the Castlevania Dominus Collection is a great pick for adventure fans.
These Nintendo Switch game collections specifically include so many rare or hard-to-find fun games the value is phenomenal.
NOTE: When looking over my personal suggestions, please keep in mind I have a wide and varied taste in games. If a game is not for you, then no worries. Do not feel pressured to play it. Instead, play what you like. Because games are supposed to be fun.
